Our Partners - How to Get Involved

Become a Mentor

Hand-outs don’t solve the long-term problems of poverty. What people need are mentors who can facilitate their transition from welfare to self-sufficiency, and who can offer them new hope. They need people like you to guide them. Faith Partners joins teams of mentors with families and individuals receiving government assistance in order to break the bonds of poverty and help them participate in the full life of the community. As a member of a mentor team, you help eradicate poverty and promote relationships. Our mentor teams are necessary to provide an emotionally and environmentally healthy atmosphere for families transitioning from welfare to employment.

Offering Freedom - Many people in our community continually struggle to financially support themselves and their families. Often times poverty sets in because they simply lack basic skills that would enable them to become - and stay - self-sufficient. They have not been taught how to look to the future, set goals, or even see beyond their chronic poverty. Others are experiencing temporary circumstances which have contributed to their financial, emotional, and spiritual setbacks. Whatever their situation may be, the purpose of Faith Partners is to identify those problems and encourage them to come together with us and their mentors so that they can receive a hand up from friends who care.

How Mentoring Works - Our mentoring program begins with a day of intensive training. Through this training you will be equipped to respond to the needs of families struggling with poverty. You will learn how to go beyond benevolence into intentional, life-changing relationship. Once you complete this training, you - along with 3-4 other individuals - will be matched with a family whose needs best fit with the strengths of your team. Once this match has been made, the team is considered complete, and mentoring can begin! The family chooses from several different mentoring categories(but not limited to):

  • Personal development
  • Strengthening key relationships
  • Financial wisdom
  • Vocational skills
  • Educational advancement

Faith Partners is always there to support your team!
